Students present one-act plays

On Saturday, May 6th, students in grades 4-7 presented three polished and amusing plays. They had practiced in theater club after school and on Saturdays for several months. Siblings, parents, teachers, and friends packed the gallery room that we turned into a little theater. The plays, written by Carrie Peckar, were:

  • Camp Granada, the Musical – group dynamics and resolution, with the scene set to the tune of Alan Sherman’s famous humorous song from the ’60s, Camp Granada. Vince made a video of selections at https://youtu.be/6xFsu8aS2lk.
  • Mystery at Pineapple Estates – a domineering estate owner’s statute disappears, leading her to call in two detectives. They unmask her “favorite” butler. At the beginning of the play, the stature disappears before the eyes of the audience – clever misdirection that magicians use.
  • Sharknado! The Musical – what can we say but chaos!
  • And then our dedicated theater club director, Elizabeth Brasher, gets flowers from her daughter, Samantha, now in high school.
