The belief that learning can take place and that every child needs to be offered an opportunity for learning in a conductive environment. Individual differences, styles, and abilities should be considered and implemented as part of a teaching and learning process.

37.5 years of experience in the elementary classroom with bilingual/multicultural students:

• 1 1/2 years in Northern New Mexico
• 36 years in Las Cruces
  • 25 years as a teacher
  • 9 years as a substitute teacher
  • currently working as a part-time tutor.
  • summers as an educational assistant

Western New Mexico University - BA and MAT in education

Awards

Yolanda was honored to be included in, Who's Who Among American Teachers, 1996. The teachers are nominated by top school students.

Academy Comments

Yolanda was highly recommended by an adviser to the Academy who works for the Las Cruces Schools. Our adviser has twenty years of experience as an elementary school teacher and nine years of experience as a staff development specialist, so had the opportunity to observe hundreds of elementary school teachers.
